UNTH Foundation Celebrates Commissioning of Adopted and Upgraded Female Surgical Ward (Ward 9)

On Monday, 20th July 2026, the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu, commissioned the newly adopted and upgraded Female Surgical Ward, Ward 9.

This milestone was made possible through the Ward/Facility Adoption Policy – an initiative inviting individuals and organizations to partner with UNTH in rebuilding healthcare infrastructure.

We join UNTH management to sincerely appreciate Dr. Obinna Egbo and his family for adopting and transforming Ward 9. Their generosity is restoring dignity to patients and hope to healthcare workers.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, described the commissioning as “healthcare vision meeting compassion” and called on more Nigerians of goodwill to join the movement.

“Government alone cannot do it all. For every hand that gives, a thousand patients will be healed,” he said.

The ward was formally opened by Mama Peace Egbo.
